COMMUNICATIONS
The Communications Committee shares information among current and potential MAIBA members. The committee oversees MAIBA’s branding, website, and social media, and meets periodically on an as-needed basis. Please direct all inquiries regarding this committee to committee chair Arielle Wagner.
CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION
The CLE Committee coordinates the annual MAIBA-sponsored continuing legal education conference, which is typically held in May. The committee meets frequently in the fall and in the weeks leading up to the conference. Please direct all inquiries regarding this committee to committee chair Forrest Tahdooahnippah.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Golf Tournament Committee is charged with planning and promoting MAIBA’s annual summer golf tournament, typically held in July, as a fundraiser for its law student scholarship program. The committee meets frequently in the fall and in the weeks leading up to the conference. HONOR AND AWARDS
The Honor and Awards Committee is a new committee whose purpose is to honor, lift up, and recognize MAIBA members and their accomplishments. The committee identifies and submits award nominations to external organizations and entities on behalf of MAIBA and its members. This committee meets periodically on an as-needed basis. Please direct all inquiries regarding this committee to committee chair Andrew Adams.
JUDICIAL ENDORSEMENT
The Judicial Endorsement Committee reviews all incoming applications for endorsement of judicial candidates and makes a recommendation to the Board of Directors. The committee meets periodically on an as-needed basis. Please direct all inquiries regarding this committee to committee chair Arielle Wagner.
LAW STUDENT COMMITTEE
The Law Student Committee is a new committee comprised of current law students with a connection to Minnesota. The committee will work closely with the Student Relations Committee. Please direct all inquires regarding this committee to the committee co-chairs from each of the three Minnesota law schools: GeWaden Dunkley (Mitchell Hamline).
SCHOLARSHIP
The Scholarship Committee creates scholarship applications, disseminates scholarship information, and recommends scholarship recipients to the Board. The committee meets frequently in the fall ahead of the student reception. Please direct all inquiries regarding this committee to committee chairs Reid Raymond and Jody Alholinna.
SOCIAL EVENTS
The Social Events Committee is charged with promoting camaraderie among members through fun and productive events. The committee plans social events with the goal of strengthening ties among members. The committee meets periodically on an as-needed basis. Please direct all inquiries regarding this committee to committee chair Emily Peterson.
STUDENT RECRUITMENT
The Student Recruitment Committee was established to address the issues faced by American Indian Students applying to law school. MAIBA is concerned about the decline in American Indian student enrollment in law school and has developed this committee to coordinate with schools, students, and potential students to encourage the application and enrollment of American Indian students. STUDENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE
The Student Relations Committee is MAIBA’s formal connection to American Indian law students and to non-Indian law students interested in Indian law. Each fall, the Student Relations Committee organizes a reception for those students at one of the three area law schools. The committee will work closely with the MAIBA Law Student Committee.
